Community Services

Foley is committed deeply to the principle of community service. We believe it is both an ethical responsibility as attorneys and a moral obligation as human beings to give back to the communities in which we live and work. Whether providing services to a legal aid society or dedicating time to a local charity, we approach community service with the same level of integrity and insightful, innovative thinking as we do our client service.

Community Involvement
At Foley, improving the quality of life in our communities is a proud tradition. We are dedicated to supporting charitable activities that result in stronger communities. Many of our attorneys serve as volunteer officers, directors, and trustees of charitable organizations, and volunteer their free time for such entities.

Foley's community service activities include the following:

  • Foley's Milwaukee office teamed up with the Milwaukee Brewers for K's for a Cause, a community initiative to raise awareness and funds for Milwaukee charities. As part of this multi-year partnership, attorneys and staff in Foley's Milwaukee office pledge a dollar amount for each strikeout recorded by the Brewers. The Foley pledge is then matched by a significant pledge from a member of the Brewers pitching staff. To date, the initiative raised $150,000 for the Hunger Task Force.
  • Since 2006, Foley has been a proud sponsor of the Light The Night Walk to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education, and patient services. Since its founding in 1949, LLS has invested more than $600 million in research specifically targeting blood cancers. Foley is the first law firm to have a national Light The Night Walk team and now participates in the fight against cancer in more than a dozen cities across the United States. The team raised $44,000 in 2008 alone and more than $81,000 to date.
  • Foley's Tampa office co-hosted and co-sponsored the 2006 and 2007 Grand Oak Classic golf tournaments, helping to raise a total of $268,000 for the Academy Prep Center of Tampa, which provides educational opportunities to underprivileged children. Foley has contributed to the center's two campuses through various fundraisers and student sponsorships since 2003.
  • Foley's Detroit office partnered with Detroit Public Schools (DPS) Office of Career and Technical Education to develop and launch Improving Detroit Through Entrepreneurship Advancement (IDEA), an educational program focused on improving career outlook and awareness of entrepreneurship opportunities in the metro Detroit area.
