Adam E. Badik is special counsel with Foley & Lardner LLP. His practice focuses on software-related intellectual property matters and he is a member of the firm’s Electronics Practice.
Prior to joining Foley, Mr. Badik worked with two boutique law firms where he prosecuted patent applications, prepared patentability studies, and analyzed issued patents for potential infringement. He has also advised clients on patent assignment and licensing matters. His technical experience includes distributed systems, cryptography, security, computer networks, data management, speech processing, and communication protocols.
Mr. Badik is an experienced software engineer. Before joining the legal profession, he developed server upgrade systems for Unisys / PulsePoint Communications and he developed software for data management and voice-mail distribution servers for CallWave, Inc, a dot-com start-up. He is well versed in Object Oriented Programming and has written extensive code in C++, Java, and Perl. His work has included development of data-processing tools, self-learning data analysis systems, complex installation scripts, and large-scale data servers interacting with millions of clients.
Mr. Badik received his Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law (J.D., 2006) where he served as an article editor for the Journal of Science & Technology Law. He received his master’s degree in computer science from the University of California, Santa Barbara (M.S., 2002) and his bachelor’s degree in computer science from Goucher College (B.A., 1999). He was honored to serve on the board of directors for the Alumnae & Alumni of Goucher College from 2007-2010.
He is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and New York and registered as a patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
