Lep Adams is a partner with Foley & Lardner LLP where his practice is concentrated in complex commercial litigation with particular emphasis on contract, construction, and real estate disputes. He has extensive trial, arbitration and appellate experience representing owners, developers, design professionals, contractors, subcontractors, manufacturers and suppliers in complex contract disputes, including payment performance delay and construction defect claim litigation in state and federal courts, as well as arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Adams also has significant experience drafting and negotiating construction industry contracts for clients’ specific requirements. He is a member of the firm’s Construction and Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practices as well as the Energy Industry Team.
Prior to joining Foley, Mr. Adams was a shareholder with Rogers Towers, P.A.
Mr. Adams received his law degree (J.D., 1983) and his bachelor’s degree (B.A., 1980) from the University of Florida. He has been Peer Review Rated as AV® Preeminent™, the highest performance rating in Martindale-Hubbell's peer review rating system. In addition, he was selected for inclusion in the 2006-2012 Florida Super Lawyers® lists and The Best Lawyers in America® lists in 2006, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013 for construction law. Mr. Adams served as a member of the board of governors of The Florida Bar (1996-1998); past president of the Young Lawyers Division of The Florida Bar of Governors (1993-1998); co-chair of the Fourth Judicial Circuit Professionalism Committee (1998-2004); past chair and member of The Florida Bar Lawyer Referral Service Committee (1997-2004); past chair of the Fourth Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee 4(D) (1992-1995; 2001-2004); board of governors of the Jacksonville Bar Association (1998-2001); barrister of the Chester Bedell Inn of Court; and a member of the Florida Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism (1996-2000).
He is a member of the Forum on the Construction Industry and Torts Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association; The Florida Bar; and the Jacksonville Bar Association and is Board Certified in Construction Law by The Florida Bar.
Mr. Adams co-authored, "Chapter 6 Rights and Liabilities of Subcontractors and Suppliers," Florida Construction Law and Practice (5th Edition) published by the Florida Bar. He has presented numerous lectures on a variety of construction related topics, including construction lien and bond claims, payment disputes, termination and changes.
