Anthony Rodriguez is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP. He is a member of the firm's Real Estate and Taxation Practices, and the Hospitality, Resort & Golf Industry Team.
Mr. Rodriguez's practice focuses on a variety of commercial transactions, including acquisition and disposition, leasing and financing, as well as particular specialties in the development of single-family and multi-family real estate projects, condominium and homeowner association planned communities, as well as golf club amenity development and membership structuring. Additionally, he has represented lenders and developers in the financing of various commercial projects, and has become involved in wind and water energy development projects in multiple states.
Mr. Rodriguez's legal experience includes working as a summer associate at Foley and as a summer law clerk (Florida 3rd Judicial Circuit) for Judge E. Vernon Douglas and Judge Paul S. Bryan. Since 2006, Mr. Rodriguez has been a certified public accountant in Florida. His background in accounting includes work as a consultant and student reader at Gleim Publications, Inc., where he updated accounting concepts in CPA review textbooks. He also analyzed various federal and state taxation issues as a tax staff intern at KPMG LLP.
Mr. Rodriguez received his Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2008, where he graduated in the top 5% of his class and was elected to the Order of the Coif. While in law school, he served as an executive board member to the Florida Journal of International Law and was a member of Florida Blue Key. He received his M.Acc. and B.S., summa cum laude, in accounting from the University of Florida Fisher School of Accounting in 2005, as well as a minor in trumpet performance from the University of Florida School of Music.
During his tenure at the University of Florida, Mr. Rodriguez was a graduate assistant to Athletic Bands, and served as the drum major/conductor of the University of Florida Marching Band for three years. He also participated as a trumpet instrumentalist in the University Symphonic Band. In addition, Mr. Rodriguez was a graduate teaching assistant to Professor Betsy Ruff (legal research and appellate advocacy), as well as to Professor Hadley Schaefer and Director Joel Demski (cost/managerial accounting).
In 2010, Mr. Rodriguez was honored by the Tampa Bay Business Journal as an "Up and Comer" Under 30 award recipient, which recognizes the top 30 rising stars in the Tampa Bay business community.
Mr. Rodriguez is admitted to practice in Florida. He is a member of the American Bar Association, The Florida Bar, the Condominium and Planned Development Subcommittee of The Florida Bar, the Hillsborough County Bar and the American Association of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants. Additionally, Mr. Rodriguez is a member of Foley's Tampa Bay Pro Bono Committee, is a board member for the Hillsborough County Wills For Heroes initiative (a pro bono program designed to assist first responders in basic estate planning), and has acted as a volunteer attorney with the state of Florida's "FASH" (Florida Attorneys Saving Homes) foreclosure prevention initiative.
