Ary Chang is senior counsel with Foley & Lardner LLP where her practice encompasses all aspects of intellectual property litigation. The focus of her practice is on patent disputes, but Ms. Chang has litigated patent, copyright, trademark, and trade dress matters as well as trade secret misappropriation. She has experience handling litigation in U.S. District Courts as well as before the U.S. International Trade Commission. Ms. Chang is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice.
Before joining Foley, Ms. Chang was an attorney at an intellectual property law firm, where her practice included intellectual property litigation and technology licensing. Prior to beginning her legal career, Ms. Chang worked as an engineer at General Electric Co., where she designed and evaluated air pollution control systems for various combustion systems and conducted studies to assess pollution control technologies. Ms. Chang is a certified Engineer-in-Training in the State of California and is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
Ms. Chang earned her J.D. from the UCLA School of Law, where she was notes editor and articles editor of the Journal of Law and Technology and business manager of the Asian Pacific Law Journal. She received her M.S. in engineering from the University of California, Irvine, where she completed her thesis research at the UCI Combustion Laboratory. Ms. Chang graduated, cum laude, from the University of California, Riverside, with a B.S. in environmental engineering.
Ms. Chang is a member of the Pro Bono Committee in Foley’s San Diego and Del Mar offices. She successfully advocated for clients who sought asylum in the United States from persecution, assisted a client in obtaining Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and represented unaccompanied children before the San Diego Immigration Court.
Ms. Chang also serves as a member of the firm’s Associates Committee.
Ms. Chang is admitted to practice in California and before the Northern, Central, Southern and Eastern Districts of California. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the California Bar Association, and the San Diego County Bar Association. She is also the co- president-elect and board member of the Pan Asian Lawyers of San Diego.
Ms. Chang is fluent in Thai and Lao. She has studied abroad at Thailand’s Chiang Mai University.
