Christi A. Lawson is a partner in the Orlando office of Foley & Lardner LLP, where she is a member of the firm's Consumer Financial Services and Labor & Employment Practices, as well as the Trade Secret/Noncompete Specialty Practice. In addition, Ms. Lawson has first chair experience representing Fortune 100 companies.
As a member of the Litigation Department, Ms. Lawson has experience working with all aspects of complex litigation and trial matters, and with preparing briefs for matters before appellate courts in Florida, Nevada, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court.
Ms. Lawson maintains a broad-based consumer financial services litigation practice. She has handled litigation matters arising under the Truth in Lending Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Credit Billing Act, "fair lending," the Electronic Funds Transfer Act, and other federal and state unfair trade practice and consumer protection laws.
As a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice, Ms. Lawson also represents clients regarding the enforcement and defense of non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, as well as trade secret enforcement.
Ms. Lawson was selected for inclusion in the 2009 - 2012 Florida Super Lawyers – Rising Stars® lists. In 2012, she received the ABA Military Pro Bono Project Outstanding Services Award in recognition of the pro bono services she provides to junior-enlisted, active-duty servicemembers.
Ms. Lawson received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Florida State University College of Law in 2001. In 1996, she received her B.A. in political science from Florida State University, specializing in Middle Eastern relations, with a minor in history.
Ms. Lawson's professional experience includes three-and-a-half years as a tax and audit accountant for the Florida Department of Transportation, working in the accounts receivable and joint participation agreements sections. In law school, Ms. Lawson was selected for a judicial clerkship with the Florida Supreme Court.
Ms. Lawson is a member of The Florida Bar and the Orange County Bar Association. She continues to be active in her community. Ms. Lawson recently concluded her second term of being elected the chairman of the City of Orlando’s Civil Service Board, and is currently on the governing board for Orlando’s chapter of ATHENAPowerLink®.
