Daniel Rose is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP, where he is a member of the Electronics Practice, involved in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the areas of electronics, networking telecommunications, computer hardware and software, medical devices, and adaptive technologies. He assists in the preparation of infringement and patentability opinions, and has drafted international patent filing strategy for a Fortune 1000 multinational corporation, including analysis of filing patterns of leading industry competitors. He also advises smaller and mid-sized clients on patent strategy and portfolio management.
Prior to joining Foley, Mr. Rose was a patent agent for two years at Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP. He has a decade of experience in electrical and broadcast engineering and was the assistant chief engineer for the WBUR Group, Boston’s National Public Radio affiliate. His responsibilities included AM and FM transmitter maintenance, analog and digital circuit diagnosis and repair, and design and programming of computer networking and automation systems. Mr. Rose also holds an EIT certificate from the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying.
Mr. Rose earned his law degree from Suffolk University Law School (J.D., 2011, magna cum laude) with a concentration in intellectual property and specialization in patent law. He also has received an Academic Trustee Scholarship, an Academic Leadership Scholarship and Jurisprudence Awards recognizing him as best in class in contracts, torts, and criminal law, and participated in the McLaughlin Appellate Advocacy competition, the International Trademark Association’s Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition, and the ABA Negotiation competition. Mr. Rose is also the 2nd place winner of the 2010 Boston Patent Law Association writing competition. Mr. Rose earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell (2000, cum laude).
Mr. Rose is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark office.
