Diane G. Elder is special counsel with Foley & Lardner LLP where she is a member of the Trademark, Copyright & Advertising Practice.
Ms. Elder counsels clients regarding a wide array of domestic and foreign intellectual property matters, including trademark availability, licensing, advertising copy clearance, copyright protection, trade secret protection, and purchase and sale of intellectual property. Ms. Elder has experience in intellectual property matters in Latin America, including Spanish advertising clearance. She also has extensive experience before federal courts and administration agencies, including the United States Patent & Trademark Office and the Copyright Office.
Prior to joining Foley, Ms. Elder was a partner with Wildman Harrold.
Ms. Elder received her law degree from The Law Center at the University of Southern California (J.D., 1983). She received her undergraduate degree in anthropology from the University of California Berkeley (A.B., 1980).
Ms. Elder is admitted to practice in Illinois, California and before the United States Supreme Court; the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois; and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third, Seventh, Eight, Ninth and Federal Circuits.
Ms. Elder is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the California State Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the International Trademark Association, and the Copyright Law Society.
Ms. Elder is fluent in Spanish.
