Emily F. Magee (formerly Emily Diaz) is a partner with Foley & Lardner LLP and a member of the firm’s Finance & Financial Institutions, Public Finance, and Health Care Finance & Restructuring Practices. Her practice focuses on public and health care finance, including related securities and tax matters. Ms. Magee has served as bond counsel and disclosure counsel for issuers throughout the state of Florida. She also serves as bond counsel, underwriter’s counsel, bank counsel and trustee’s counsel on numerous conduit financings for hospitals, continuing care retirement communities, universities, manufacturing facilities, exempt facilities (airports and docks & wharves), and multifamily housing. In 2012, Ms. Magee provided counsel on over $1 billion in tax-exempt financings. Ms. Magee also has extensive experience with other types of lending transactions, including private placements with single financial institutions, master lease-purchase arrangements, pooled loan programs and commercial paper programs, as well as complex interest rate hedging transactions.
Ms. Magee is actively involved in various organizations in the community. Ms. Magee currently serves as co-chair for the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce Athena Powerlink program providing mentorship for women entrepreneurs. In 2004, she received an Equal Justice Award from Jacksonville Area Legal Aid for her commitment to providing pro bono service to its custody mill program, and in 2006, was a recipient of the Lynford Lardner award, a top firm honor for community service. Ms. Magee has also been named "40 Under 40" and, most recently, a “Woman of Influence” by the Jacksonville Business Journal.
Ms. Magee is an honors graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law (J.D., magna cum laude, 2000), where she was a notes editor for the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law and inducted into the Order of the Coif. Ms. Magee received her undergraduate degree in communications from Florida State University and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.
Ms. Magee is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers. Ms. Magee has been admitted to The Florida Bar and The North Carolina State Bar.
