Joseph Shapiro is director, administration and operations, for the New York office of Foley & Lardner LLP. He oversees and directs the office’s finance and accounting, budgeting, and human resources functions, and is responsible for all aspects of facility operations. He also undertakes special projects and activities at the request of the office managing partner and the firm’s chief operating officer.
Mr. Shapiro also serves as an administrative department head, with responsibility for the administration of the firm's libraries and legal information resources. In this role, he is working with the firm's team of professional legal librarians to ensure that Foley’s attorneys have access to state-of-the-art research tools and services.
Mr. Shapiro has over 20 years of experience in administrative management and has specialized in legal administration since 1989. Before joining Foley, he served as executive director for several law firms in New York and New Jersey. Mr. Shapiro’s prior positions include director of administrative services for the Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation and director of general services for Newsweek, Inc.
Mr. Shapiro holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University, and completed graduate training in administration at the University of Minnesota. He is a member of the Association of Legal Administrators. Outside of the office, he studies voice and performs choral music.
