Julie Angelini is an associate with Foley & Lardner. She is a member of the firm's Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice and Labor & Employment Practice, and the Trade Secret/Noncompete Specialty Practice.
Ms. Angelini’s business litigation practice consists of regularly assisting clients in a wide range of complex commercial litigation matters, including contract, property and tort disputes.
In addition to her business litigation practice, Ms. Angelini advises clients on a wide array of personnel-related matters involving compliance with federal and state employment laws. She drafts and revises handbooks and other employment policies and procedures, participates in company investigations of employee complaints, assists clients with reductions-in-force, and provides clients with training on equal employment opportunity policies. Ms. Angelini's practice also involves assisting clients with a variety of day-to-day human resource issues, such as employee discipline, employee leave, wage and hour questions, and disability accommodation.
Ms. Angelini regularly represents employers in state and federal courts throughout the nation as well as in administrative agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She has handled claims involving employment discrimination and harassment under federal and state law (ADA, FMLA, ADEA, Title VII), as well as common law tort and contract actions, wage and hour actions, and claims under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
With regard to her Trade Secret/Noncompete practice, Ms. Angelini drafts employment agreements and company policies with confidentiality, non-competition and other restrictive covenants for employers to use with key employees. She also counsels employers on these issues, including both employers who have lost a key employee to a competitor and employers desiring to hire an employee who worked for a competitor. Similarly, Ms. Angelini’s litigation experience regarding trade secret/noncompete issues includes both sides of courtroom. She has represented former employers as a plaintiff and has successfully obtained injunctive relief and ultimately favorable settlements for clients who have lost a key employee to a competitor. Ms. Angelini has defended clients who have hired an important individual and then were attacked with trade secret/noncompete claims by the individual’s former employer.
Ms. Angelini was recently selected for inclusion in the 2013 Florida Super Lawyers - Rising Stars® list.
Ms. Angelini received her J.D. from the Florida State University College of Law (magna cum laude, 2008), where she was elected to the Order of the Coif, served as notes and comments editor and as writing and research editor of the Florida State University Law Review and was a member of the Journal of Land Use and Environmental Law. Ms. Angelini also served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Chief Judge Edwin B. Browning Jr. of the Florida District Court of Appeal, First District. She received her B.A. in political science and B.S. in psychology from the University of Georgia (summa cum laude, 2005).
Ms. Angelini is admitted to practice in Florida and before the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida and the U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
