Mary R. Conklin is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP and a member of the firm’s Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Government Enforcement, Compliance & White Collar Defense Practices. Her practice focuses on civil litigation, including class action defense and healthcare litigation, as well as white collar criminal defense and internal investigations.
Ms. Conklin advocates on behalf of clients in both state and federal court litigation, arbitration and mediation. Her civil representations include defending allegations of healthcare-related regulatory violations and privacy violations (including HIPAA and CMIA issues), unfair competition, and breach of contract, including the successful defense against a $30 million dollar demand in a breach of contract matter during a two day arbitration on behalf of a healthcare client. Her enforcement representations include investigating and defending allegations of securities and accounting fraud, wire and mail fraud, insider trading, and off-label marketing of pharmaceuticals.
Ms. Conklin received her law degree from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law in 2009, where she served in leadership positions on the executive boards of multiple student organizations, including the Public Interest Law Foundation. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, cum laude, from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2005.
During law school, Ms. Conklin served as judicial extern for the Honorable Terry J. Hatter, Jr., United States District Judge for the Central District of California in Los Angeles, California.
Ms. Conklin is admitted to practice in California, before all California courts as well as the United States District Court for the Central District of California, the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Ms. Conklin is co-author of the article "Responding to a Government Subpoena or RFI," published in The Corporate Counselor (Vol. 26, No. 5) in September 2011.
