Michael Dana is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP where he focuses on the areas of private equity, investment funds management, mergers & acquisitions, and taxation. In particular, he assists in counseling investment funds in connection with fund formation, operation, investments, and complex structuring. He is a member of the Private Equity & Venture Capital, Latin America, Transactional & Securities, and Taxation Practices.
Before joining Foley, Mr. Dana was an international advisor with Ernst & Young, where he advised large, multinational clients on transaction structuring, international tax planning and cross-border investments.
Previously, Mr. Dana practiced law with a boutique Washington D.C. area law firm where his practice included representing investment funds, and closely-held businesses and their owners in connection with complex commercial, tax, and financial matters domestically and abroad. Mr. Dana also has commercial litigation experience.
Mr. Dana received both his Master of Laws in taxation and Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the Catholic University of America, cum laude, with double majors in mathematics and philosophy.
Mr. Dana is admitted to the practice of law in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. He is also admitted to practice in the United States Tax Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Mr. Dana is not admitted to the practice of law in Florida.
