Paul A. Stewart is managing partner of the Palo Alto office for Foley & Lardner LLP. He is a member of the firm’s Health Care and Life Sciences Industry Teams, and the Real Estate, Private Equity & Venture Capital, and Transactional & Securities Practices. Mr. Stewart has over 35 years of experience in business, technology, general corporate and real estate matters. He represents privately held and "Fortune 500" companies. He is the California chair of the Business Law Department and the former co-chair of the Health Care Business Counseling & Technology Practice.
Mr. Stewart has served as chief legal counsel for numerous private companies, ranging from start-ups to established organizations active in technology, consulting, financing, retailing, health care, real estate, and other business sectors. He has extensive experience in structuring companies, obtaining financing, negotiating contracts, private placements of securities, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate collaborations and corporate partnering transactions, and in commercial real estate.
Mr. Stewart is a member of the Bar Association of San Francisco, the State Bar of California, the American Bar Association, and the American Health Lawyers Association. He has written extensively on business-related topics of legal interest and has lectured to business and professional groups both nationally and internationally.
