Tom Maida is the managing partner of the Tallahassee office of Foley & Lardner LLP. A member of the firm's Insurance Industry Team and the Government & Public Policy Practice, Mr. Maida focuses his practice on assisting clients in highly regulated industries navigate through the maze of government regulations which affect the way they do business. His clients include some of the world's largest insurance companies, as well as many leading regional insurers. Mr. Maida has played pivotal roles in the development of legal strategies for a number of complex business transactions, including the formation of insurance companies, group funds and health maintenance organizations; mergers and acquisitions of insurance companies and health maintenance organizations; and the demutualization of insurers. He currently serves as general counsel to the Florida Workers' Compensation Joint Underwriting Association. He also represents clients in legislative matters before the Florida Legislature. A member of the American Bar Association and its Tort & Insurance Practice Section, Mr. Maida serves on the ABA's Committee on the Public Regulation of Insurance. He is also a member of the Federation of Regulatory Counsel. Mr. Maida is a member of The Florida Bar and the Tallahassee Bar Association. He is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida. Mr. Maida is a graduate of the Florida State University College of Law and also holds a bachelor's degree from the Florida State University.
