Katherine P. Soby is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP and is a member of the Securities Enforcement & Litigation and Bankruptcy & Business Reorganizations Practices. Ms. Soby's practice focuses on restructurings, bankruptcy and creditor's rights litigation, as well as complex business insolvency matters. She represents debtors-in-possession, creditors, Chapter 11 trustees, asset purchasers, financial institutions and parties to contracts and adversary proceedings.Ms. Soby is also involved with complex securities litigation in federal and state courts and the regulation of corporations and broker dealers. Ms. Soby typically defends publicly traded corporations, private companies, and directors and officers in major securities class actions and SEC investigations. Ms. Soby has experience in finance, accounting and medical economics, as she worked for several years in those capacities at CIGNA HealthCare. Ms. Soby was a summer associate at Foley and worked for two summers at Faegre & Benson. Ms. Soby earned her law degree from Duke University School of Law, magna cum laude, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif. She was also a Mordecai Scholar and the recipient of North Carolina's Association of Women Attorneys' Scholarship and of the Faculty Award for Outstanding Achievement in Business Organization and Finance. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame, magna cum laude.
