Marc J. Marotta is a partner in the Transactional & Securities and Public Affairs Practices with Foley & Lardner LLP. Mr. Marotta represents public and private companies in mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings and recapitalizations, and public and private equity and debt financings. He has represented a wide variety of manufacturers, utilities, biotechnology and service companies, as well as both national and regional underwriters. Mr. Marotta also advises a variety of companies on public affairs matters ranging from policy, legislative and regulatory issues to procurement.

Mr. Marotta joined Foley in 1987 and left the firm in January, 2003 to become the secretary of the Department of Administration for the state of Wisconsin under Governor Jim Doyle. As secretary of the DOA, Mr. Marotta oversaw state government operations, prepared and implemented the state's $54 billion biennial budget and acted as the Governor's chief cabinet adviser. During his tenure, Mr. Marotta served on the State of Wisconsin Investment Board, the Board of University Hospitals and Clinics and the Wisconsin Center District Board.

Mr. Marotta currently serves as chairman of the board of the Bradley Center and on the boards of Summerfest (Milwaukee World Festival), Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee, Milwaukee Symphony, and the Greater Milwaukee Committee.

Mr. Marotta is a 1987 graduate of Harvard Law School and a 1984 graduate of Marquette University, where he studied economics, political science and English, and was a three-time academic All-American basketball player.
