Peter I. Sanborn is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP and a member of the firm's Information Technology & Outsourcing Practice. Mr. Sanborn’s experience as a corporate lawyer includes information technology and outsourcing transactions, information security, international privacy, and information technology.
Mr. Sanborn has experience with transactions relating to outsourcing and information technology, including IT outsourcing, technology licensing, business process outsourcing, cloud computing and software development. In addition, his experience encompasses drafting virtually every type of information technology related agreements, including software licenses, information security agreements, master services agreements for IT professional services, and outsourcing. Mr. Sanborn also advises clients on a variety of matters related to compliance with data protection and identity theft regulations.
Mr. Sanborn has also worked on a variety of patent cases and his litigation experience covers products and technologies, including, among other areas, computer software, Internet technologies, electrical technologies, video over IP technology, and antivirus software. He also has experience defending false marking claims, including obtaining orders dismissing false marking allegations.
Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Sanborn was the director of Web communications for Tufts University, where he oversaw the development of the university's main Web sites, content management systems, and Web−based tools and applications. Prior to that, he served as an assistant director of public relations for Tufts, where he launched the University's daily online news channel and provided strategic communications support to Tufts' undergraduate, graduate and professional schools.
Mr. Sanborn volunteers as a mentor to Boston−area law students through the Boston Lawyers Group Mentor Program and mentors undergraduate students through the Tufts University CASE Network. He is an elected member of the Tufts University Alumni Council, and the governing board of the university's Alumni Association.
Mr. Sanborn earned his J.D. from the Suffolk University School of Law in 2008, and graduated summa cum laude. He was awarded first place in the Nathan Burkan Memorial Competition at Suffolk University Law School, sponsored by American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). He received his B.A. degree in English and history from Tufts University in 1999.
Mr. Sanborn is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and before the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals.
