Richard M. Caron is senior counsel with Foley & Lardner LLP. He is a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Consumer Financial Services Practices and Hospitality, Resort & Golf Industry Team, with emphasis in the resort and mixed-use development and vacation and shared ownership industries including timeshare, fractional and membership club projects, resort condominiums and cooperatives, and travel and exchange services.
Mr. Caron’s extensive experience includes sales and acquisitions of real estate and corporate assets; planning and development of resort properties and mixed-use developments, private residence clubs, equity membership clubs, personal property vacation ownership and fractional ownership plans; ensuring compliance with federal and state real estate and financing regulations, including registration regulations, securities laws, HUD regulations, consumer protection laws, and Department of Treasury Regulations; the formation and administration on nonprofit corporations, resort and mixed-use development management and operations; and the preparation and review of documents used for registration and filing of domestic and international vacation ownership projects and exchange companies.
Mr. Caron has authored several articles related to corporate governance and financial regulation compliance that have been printed in publications such as Developments (the American Resort Development Association’s magazine) and the Real Estate Finance Journal.
Mr. Caron graduated, with honors, from the Florida State University College of Law (J.D., 2001), where he was associate editor of the Florida State University Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Central Florida (B.S.B.A., 1989).
Mr. Caron is admitted to practice in Florida and is a member of the Florida Bar Association and Orange County Bar Association. He also serves as a member of the board for the Adult Literacy League.
