Stephen Boyett is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP and a member of the firm's Real Estate and Finance & Financial Institutions Practices as well as the Sports Industry Team.
Mr. Boyett’s experience includes representing both investors and lenders in real estate acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and acquisition and construction financing. He also counsels clients regarding general corporate matters, including entity selection, formation and governance. Recent transactions include:
- Representing Guggenheim Baseball Management in its historic acquisition of the Los Angeles Dodgers;
- Counseling investment sponsors in the acquisition and financing of, and syndication of ownership interests in, more than two dozen multifamily residential properties across the western United States;
- Representing nationally recognized lenders in the issuance of construction and acquisition financing to borrowers; and
- Assisting alternative energy developers in the acquisition of rights in land for the development of solar and wind projects.
Prior to starting at Foley, Mr. Boyett served as an in-house legal clerk with Cornerstone Real Estate Funds, where he assisted on matters ranging from real estate acquisition to regulatory compliance. During law school, he worked as a summer associate with Foley (2008) and served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Judge Joan Kessler of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals.
Mr. Boyett earned his law degree from Marquette University Law School (J.D., magna cum laude, 2009), where he was managing editor of the Marquette Law Review. While attending law school, Mr. Boyett earned nine CALI awards, was a Bowman Scholarship recipient, and earned Marquette’s first Regional Champion title in the National Appellate Advocacy Competition (Boston Division, 2009). He received his Bachelor of Arts in political science from California State University, Long Beach (cum laude, 2006).
