Suzanne Cook is an attorney with Foley & Lardner LLP where she provides support to clients regarding patent, trademark and copyright issues. Her patent experience has included computer software, electronics, and medical devices. She is a member of the firm’s Electronics Practice and previously served as a summer associate in Foley’s Los Angeles office.
Prior to joining Foley, Ms. Cook worked as a software design engineer lead at Microsoft Corporation. In this role, she developed and designed parts of the Common Language Runtime (CLR) of the .NET platform, especially the file and class loaders. During this time, she was an inventor for eight of Microsoft's software patents.
Ms. Cook received her law degree from Cornell University Law School, where she was article editor for the Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy and an associate member of the editorial board of the Legal Information Institute. During that time, she was a CALI award recipient. She earned her bachelor’s degree in computer science, magna cum laude, from the University of Utah. In school, she won numerous debate competitions and numerous math competitions, as well as several scholarships for academics and debate.
Ms. Cook is admitted to practice in California and the District of Columbia, and before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. She is also a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
