Ted B. Edwards is a partner with Foley & Lardner LLP, where he is a member of the firm's Real Estate Practice and Hospitality, Resort & Golf Industry Team. Mr. Edwards' practice primarily focuses on the complex array of land use, land development, hotel, and project finance issues. In addition to commercial real estate, he handles litigation cases associated with real estate development, title claims, and land use matters. Mr. Edwards also serves as a mediator for commercial disputes in federal and state court.
Mr. Edwards served as the county commissioner for District 5 on the Orange County Board of County Commissioners from 1996 through 2004. Mr. Edwards has also demonstrated significant leadership in public service through his active involvement in numerous Central Florida organizations, including MetroPlan Orlando and the Metro-Orlando Economic Development Commission.
Mr. Edwards has been Peer Review Rated as AV® Preeminent™, the highest performance rating in Martindale-Hubbell's peer review rating system and was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® 2010 - 2013 in the fields of commercial litigation and real estate law. Mr. Edwards serves as general counsel for Rosen Hotels and Resorts, the largest private hotelier in Central Florida, as well as BAGS, the leading company in remote baggage transportation for hotels, convention centers, and cruise lines. Mr. Edwards served as bond counsel and borrower’s counsel on the UCF-Rosen School of Hospitality Bond financing.
In addition to his public service work, Mr. Edwards is also active in various charitable organizations in the greater Orlando area. He served as the honorary walk chairman of the "Blow the Whistle on Asthma Walk" for the American Lung Association. Mr. Edwards currently serves on the Board of Directors for Quest, an organization providing education and training to adults and children with physical and mental disabilities.
Mr. Edwards received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Stetson University in DeLand in 1978 and his J.D. from Duke University School of Law in 1981. He was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1981.
