Timothy L. Voigtman is a partner practicing with Foley & Lardner LLP. He is a member of the Taxation Practice.
Mr. Voigtman practices general corporate and tax law, including the business and tax consequences of the formation, ownership, operation, sale and reorganization of C corporations, S corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies. He also advises clients on executive compensation matters such as stock options, golden parachutes and non-qualified deferred compensation arrangements, and tax issues associated with aircraft. Mr. Voigtman’s experience ranges from advising start-up businesses to public companies.
Mr. Voigtman represents taxpayers in administrative and judicial disputes with the Internal Revenue Service, the Wisconsin Department of Revenue and other state tax authorities. From 1999 to 2010, he co-authored the "Tax Law" section of the Wisconsin State Bar’s Annual Survey of Wisconsin Law. Mr. Voigtman serves as an editor of the Wisconsin chapters of Practice Insights as published in LexisNexis® Tax Center. In 2012, he was recognized by the Legal 500 for his work in domestic tax.
Mr. Voigtman chairs the board of directors of the Milwaukee Center for Independence. The agency assists individuals and families with special needs to better live and work in the community, with programs touching more than 10,000 lives a year.
Mr. Voigtman, a Certified Public Accountant, is admitted to practice law in Wisconsin. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison, where he received his bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1991 and his J.D. degree in 1998.
