W.J. Douglass Boyd is director, administration and operations, for Foley & Lardner's Chicago and Detroit offices. He oversees and directs the offices’ finance and accounting, budgeting and human resources functions, and is responsible for all aspects of facility operations. He also undertakes special projects and activities at the request of the offices’ managing partners and the firm's chief operating officer.
Mr. Boyd has over 30 years of law firm management experience. Most recently before joining Foley & Lardner, he was the director of administration responsible for the administrative functions of a 400-attorney firm in Chicago. Mr. Boyd held similar administrative positions in law firms in Santa Barbara, Calif.; Calgary, Alberta; and Vancouver, BC. Prior to his administrative work with law firms, Mr. Boyd spent five years with Coopers & Lybrand in Calgary on the audit team.
Mr. Boyd holds a bachelor of commerce degree in accounting and finance. He is a member of the Association of Legal Administrators, served on ALA’s international board for six years, and was the international president of ALA from 1991-92.
