Foley & Lardner LLP partner Byron McLain is recognized as a DEIA Visionary by the Los Angeles Times.
The Los Angeles Times’ DEIA Visionaries are some of the area’s most influential and innovative thought leaders who are driving change, holding companies accountable, and helping employees feel more valued.
McLain was recognized for his legal successes and commitment to justice, in particular his leadership of the Foley team involved with the landmark victory in the Bruce’s Beach Case. McLain, representing the County of Los Angeles in defense against a lawsuit aimed at preventing the property’s transfer and rightful return to the Bruce family, successfully argued that the transfer was not a violation of the California Constitution and emphasized its important role in addressing past government racial discrimination.
McLain is a litigator and white-collar criminal defense lawyer who is a member of Foley’s Government Enforcement Defense & Investigations, Securities Enforcement & Litigation Practice Groups, as well as the firm’s Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance Team. McLain, who also is co-chair of the firm’s Racial Justice and Equity Practice Group, was awarded the 2023 California Lawyer Attorney of the Year Award for his leadership in securing victory in the historic Bruce’s Beach case.
