Foley & Lardner LLP today announced that John F. Hurley has been appointed the firm’s chief operating officer. Hurley has served as Foley’s chief marketing officer since joining the firm in November 2015.
Hurley brings more than 25 years of business development, marketing and operations experience in the legal, management consulting and e-commerce industries. Prior to joining Foley, he was chief business development officer at the global law firm DLA Piper, where he developed and drove strategies focused on client retention and growth. At DLA Piper, he also headed the firm’s early-stage venture capital program, advising more than 1,000 emerging growth technology companies on market development, strategic partnerships and financing issues.
He also founded and acted as president of LMR Company, a management consulting firm that provided a broad range of high-impact business development and marketing solutions for technology, service sector and venture capital clients.
As COO of Foley, Hurley will oversee the firm’s information technology, finance, real estate, research and information governance departments. He also will continue to oversee the firm’s business development and marketing department.
Hurley also played an instrumental role in helping Foley combine earlier this year with Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP.
“John leads with a collaborative, inclusive style and has built strong relationships across the firm. He is a proven leader, and I am confident he is the right person to serve as our Chief Operating Officer,” said Jay Rothman, Foley’s Chair and CEO.
“I am honored to have been appointed to this role and look forward to continuing to help lead the growth and development of the firm,” Hurley said.
