Partner Nathaniel Lacktman, Chair of Foley’s national Telemedicine & Digital Health Industry Team, was quoted in Politico’s Morning eHealth newsletter, “Telemed Overhaul Passes Virginia,” about the new legislation passed by Virginia's legislature the commonwealth's telemedicine laws. The bills would add remote patient monitoring to the list of covered services by commercial health insurance plans. Lacktman called the bill a "great revision to Virginia's telehealth laws." Ensuring that payers and health insurance plans pay for remote patient monitoring as a covered member benefit will incentivize providers to invest in these technologies. This will equip providers to better monitor and manage patient care needs, allowing patients to avoid unnecessary hospitalizations, and more proactively manage chronic conditions.
