Foley Partner Nathaniel Lacktman, Chair of the firm’s Telemedicine Industry Team and co-chair of the firm’s Digital Health Group, will be a speaker at the Mid-Atlantic Telehealth Resource Center (MATRC) 2018 Annual Summit in Hershey, PA, April 15-17, 2018. His presentation is titled, “A Look at the Changing Legal Environment in 2018 and Beyond.”
Telemedicine laws have come a long way over the last 12 months, due in no small part to the efforts of MATRC members and advocates. This plenary session will cover the key legal and regulatory updates for all nine MATRC states in the past year, as well as changes on the federal level to anticipate in the year ahead. Attendees will review telehealth reimbursement laws, state regulations and licensing requirements, professional practice standards, and telemedicine prescribing of controlled substances. Special focus will be on emerging direct to consumer models, e-commerce, and ansynchronous telemedicine services.
Das Mid-Atlantic Telehealth Resource Center ist eines der Telehealth Resource Centers (TRCs), die vom Amt für die Förderung der Telemedizin (Office for the Advancement of Telehealth) der Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) des US-Gesundheitsministeriums finanziert werden, das Teil des Amtes für ländliche Gesundheitspolitik (Office of Rural Health Policy) ist. Auf nationaler Ebene gibt es 14 TRCs. Dazu gehören 12 regionale Zentren, die alle unterschiedliche Stärken und regionale Fachkenntnisse aufweisen, sowie zwei nationale Zentren, von denen sich eines auf Technologiebewertung und das andere auf Telemedizinpolitik konzentriert. Die Aufgabe des MATRC besteht darin, technische Unterstützung und andere Ressourcen in den mittelatlantischen Bundesstaaten bereitzustellen, um die Einführung und Nutzung von Telemedizin in der Region voranzutreiben, und mit den anderen staatlich finanzierten Telemedizin-Ressourcenzentren zusammenzuarbeiten, um dasselbe auf nationaler Ebene zu erreichen.
