Lacktman Comments on Improperly Paid Telemedicine Claims

Partner Nate Lacktman was quoted in Politico’s Morning eHealth newsletter, “Docs Need to Learn How to Bill for Telehealth,” about an audit by HHS’ Office of Inspector General that found nearly a third of all telemedicine claims it examined did not meet Medicare requirements.

In light of the report, Lacktman said providers who bill Medicare for telehealth services can expect more claim reviews. And recent laws expanding CMS coverage of telemedicine will require providers to be more careful about compliance when filing claims, he added.
