Foley Featured as Law360 Health Care Practice Group of the Year
Foley & Lardner LLP is featured in Law360 for the firm’s recognition as a 2024 Health Care Practice Group of the Year.
Foley was selected for the firm’s wide range of achievements in the health care space last year, including major health care transactional work across multiple billion-dollar deals and securing a first-of-its-kind decision that declared parts of the False Claims Act (FCA) unconstitutional.
Partner Susan Pravda, chair of Foley’s Health Care & Life Sciences Sector, told Law360 in an interview that the firm’s health care lawyers do more than just solve legal problems.
“We are a firm that has the interdisciplinary approach to our health care clients — that we can be your resource, not just your legal resource, but a resource if you need to have introductions to consultants, if you need to have introductions to XYZ,” Pravda explained. “We’re trying to be really an overarching team player.”
Commenting on the firm’s significant health care transactional work, Pravda said, “Most of our health care transactional lawyers know enough to be dangerous,” but also know when to lean on Foley’s extensive roster of seasoned legal talent across diverse practice areas. “We do have the in-house expertise to really advise clients well.”
“We get spectacular results for our clients in the health care space,” continued partner Jason Mehta, co-chair of the firm’s Health Care Litigation Area of Focus and leader of the Foley team in the FCA case. Discussing the case with Law360, Mehta described important factors which influenced the decision to initially bring it and also identified the key health care litigation trends he is watching this year.
Pravda emphasized health care is a priority as the firm continues its strategic growth, pointing to Foley’s long list of health care lateral arrivals and strong footing on emerging trends in the industry, such as the widening intersection of health care and technology.
“We understand that there’s a pool of clients out there and that in order to grow your practice, you have to offer them the best quality of service — the best commitment to their objectives and goals,” she added.
“Foley is really well-positioned here,” Mehta concluded. “I think we have a really deep bench.”
