Partner Michael Blau will be speaking as part of an American Health Lawyers Association webinar presentation titled “Co-Management Arrangements: Legal, Structural, and FMV Implications” on Wednesday, September 30, 2009.

This webinar presentation will address the ongoing trend of hospitals and health systems toward engaging physicians utilizing incentive-based compensation models, with a specific emphasis on one of the most common forms of these partnerships that has emerged in the past few years: the service-line co-management arrangement. The webinar will address both the unique structural and regulatory concerns that must be considered in establishing these arrangements, including a discussion on the current legal status (i.e., the proposed Stark Rule on incentive payment and shared-cost programs). In addition, the presentation will incorporate a review of the specific FMV aspects that must be considered given the uniqueness of each arrangement from hospital to hospital.
