Beck Quoted on Noncompete Agreements

Foley Partner Russell Beck was quoted in an article titled “Tips to make noncompetes work — and work fairly” in the October 7, 2009 issue of Mass High Tech. Beck provides advice for tech employers to follow in order to make sure noncompete agreement are fair and effective, suggesting that companies establish explicit procedures and agreements to ensure confidential business information is kept confidential when an employee leaves a company. He also notes that employees can negotiate for the least burdensome restrictions and reasonable compensation during the term of the restriction before signing a noncompete agreement.
