Serwin Quoted on Employee Privacy Online

26 October 2009 InsideCounsel News

Foley Partner Andrew Serwin was quoted in an article titled “Private Practices” in the November 1, 2009 issue of InsideCounsel. Serwin discusses the employer practice of using social networking sites to screen potential job applicants and monitor for disparaging comments made online by current employees. He states that the popularity of such practices has spawned many different Web sites that make it easy to turn up personal and professional information, but notes that with opportunities for more prehiring information comes added risk, especially from the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
