Foley Partners Christopher Cain and Daniel Kaplan were quoted in an article titled “Atwitter over social media” in the February 8, 2010 issue of Corporate Report Wisconsin. Cain and Kaplan discuss the use of social networking for company promotion, stating that companies need to make sure that content and information provided through social media is true, is not defamatory and is cleared for use when provided by a third-party. They add that companies should familiarize themselves with laws governing social media and develop digital communications policies to avoid defamation concerns, libel issues and misrepresentation woes.
