Sonal Agarwal



Sonal Agarwal is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP. She is a member of the firm’s Electronics Practice. Sonal counsels clients with respect to patent matters in a wide range of electrical, electromechanical, computer hardware, and computer software industries. She has significant patent drafting and prosecution experience in areas including, but not limited to: freight transportation and logistics; off-road engines/vehicles; earth moving machinery; unmanned vehicles; internal combustion engines; exhaust aftertreatment systems; artificial intelligence/machine learning; semiconductor devices and fabrication techniques; electrical circuits and components; microelectromechanical systems (MEMS); virtual computing, including server and datacenter management; memory systems; computer networks and wireless communications; cloud computing; healthcare, financial, and insurance services; and Internet of Things. Sonal is also experienced in leading inventor brainstorming sessions, patentability and freedom-to-operate opinions, and client patent portfolio management. She also provides litigation and post-grant review support.

Prior to joining Foley, Sonal was a patent engineer/technical specialist at an intellectual property boutique firm in downtown Chicago, and at a general practice law firm in Madison.
