Garrett B. Bickford



Garrett Bickford is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP. He is a member of the firm’s Mechanical & Electromechanical Technologies Practice and the firm’s IP Litigation Practice.

Garrett focuses his practice on patent counseling and enforcement.  Garrett’s practice includes analyzing patent portfolios to facilitate enforcement efforts, identifying and assessing competitive products to assert patent rights against competitors, and coordinating large-scale freedom-to-operate investigations for new product launches.  He also prepares and prosecutes domestic and foreign patent applications, prepares invalidity and clearance opinions, and drafts and negotiates patent licensing agreements.

In addition to Garrett’s counseling practice, Garrett provides substantive and technical support for IP Litigation matters.  Garrett has significant experience in preparing pleadings, dispositive motions, and infringement and invalidity contentions.  His practice includes both prosecuting and defending post-grant proceedings, including inter partes reviews.   

Prior to entering patent law, he worked briefly as a product design engineer for a large pump manufacturer in the mining industry.
