Zachary “Zach” Boyce is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP, based in the firm’s Chicago office, where he is a member of the Transactions Practice.
Zach began with Foley as a summer associate, where he read and summarized The Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act and drafted memoranda in insurance and reinsurance matters. He also updated and edited labor and employment practice guides.
Prior to joining Foley, Zach served as a judicial extern in the Illinois Appellate Court of the First District, Third Division. He researched complex legal issues in a variety of legal areas and communicated with law clerks regarding theories of cases. Zach also drafted orders and opinions.
Zach also obtained experience as a law clerk at another law firm where he researched and drafted legal memoranda for state and federal cases in preparation for trial. He drafted pleadings and motions in a wide range of matters pertaining to insurance defense coverage and prepared summaries of cases and various different legal documentation. He also interned at Lake County State’s Attorney Office in the Gangs and Narcotics Prosecution Division. He participated in the Specialty Court system reviewing applicants’ case files for potential admission to the program and prepared transcripts for the first Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) case.
