Michael K. Chung



Michael Chung is an associate and intellectual property lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP, and a member of the firm’s Technology Transactions & Outsourcing and Privacy, Security & Information Management Practices. Michael’s practice includes managing and negotiating complex technology licensing and outsourcing transactions and advising startups regarding business development, governance, and risk management strategies.

Michael has considerable experience as a consultant for Accenture plc. In that capacity, he worked with clients to design and implement digital supply chain solutions and update business operations and procedures to harness big data analytics.

Prior to joining Foley, Michael served as a legal intern for the Executive Office at the California Office of the Attorney General, where he worked on matters concerning consumer privacy and health care policy.


Michael earned his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School (J.D., cum laude, 2014), where he served as an editor for the Michigan Telecommunications and Technology Law Review. He also has degrees in bioengineering from the University of California San Diego (UCSD) (B.S, magna cum laude, 2007; M.Eng., 2008) and in accounting from the London School of Economics (M.S., 2018).


Michael is admitted to practice law in the state of California.
