Overview

Charles E. Commander III is a retired partner at Foley & Lardner LLP, where he was a member of the firm’s Finance & Financial Institutions and Real Estate Practices.

Mr. Commander has extensive experience representing and serving on boards, and as executive officer of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REIT), real estate development companies, and financial institutions. He has advised and counseled corporate, financial institution and real estate clients in all aspects of their business for more than 25 years.

Mr. Commander has been recognized for practice excellence in real estate law in every volume of The Best Lawyers in America®. He is listed in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers (2005 and 2006), and has been selected for inclusion in the 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 Florida Super Lawyers® lists. Mr. Commander received his law degree from the University of Florida (J.D., 1965), where he was executive editor of the University of Florida Law Review.

He is chairman of the Jacksonville Housing Commission and a former member of the Jacksonville Housing Authority, University of Florida Law Center Association, University of North Florida Foundation (past president), The River Club (past president), and Cummer Museum of Art. He is also a member of The Florida Bar.
