Jeanny Haw is an intellectual property and information technology transactional attorney and special counsel with Foley & Lardner LLP. Jeanny is based in the firm’s Chicago office where she is a member of the Technology Transactions & Outsourcing Practice.
Jeanny’s practice includes advising business clients on legal issues and risks associated with significant deals including licensing, software as a service (SaaS), hosting and cloud service engagements, which often impact data privacy, IT security, insurance, business continuity, and regulatory issues. Additionally, Jeanny has acted as lead negotiator and senior counsel for a well-known pharmacy chain providing support for commercial transactions with a particular emphasis on complex technology. Most recently, Jeanny was an associate general counsel and vice president for a broker dealer and financial services firm, where she provided broad legal guidance and support for corporate legal services, ranging from commercial transactions legal support for treasury services, negotiating and closing fund clearing and custodial services, multiple cloud services agreements impacting information security and consideration for levels of data sensitivity, and many other engagements with complex regulatory issues.
Earlier in her career, she held positions as a senior associate and an associate for two major law firms headquartered in Chicago. In her role as senior associate, she negotiated substantial outsourcing deals for clients in various industries including, automotive part manufacturing and distribution, energy services, telecommunication, consumer goods and retail, technology and e-commerce services, pharmaceutical retail and health care services, and pharmaceutical manufacturing. As an associate, she both supported international commercial matters, as well as counseled clients on intellectual property asset assignment and transfers for U.S. and foreign entities, as well as providing advice on patent matters.
Just prior to law school while working as a management consultant, Jeanny provided strategic business guidance and troubleshooting to several Fortune 100 Companies, as well as to top international business entities while living in Jakarta, Indonesia, Seoul Korea, and Hong Kong. She is fluent in business-level Korean.
