Michael S. Hayes is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP and practices out of the firm’s Boston office. Mike is a member of Foley’s Transactions Practice, focusing in Fund Formation & Investment Management.
Mike has represented private equity sponsors in all aspects of fund formation, including marketing, operational, and regulatory compliance matters. Additionally, Mike has guided institutional investors and fund-of-funds through the private fund investment process. Mike has also advised fund sponsors, buyers, and sellers in secondary transactions. Prior to joining Foley, Mike was an associate in the Private Investment Funds Group of Proskauer Rose LLP.
While an evening student at Suffolk University Law School, Mike worked as a litigation law clerk and securities regulation research assistant.
Mike earned his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School (magna cum laude, 2018), where he served as an editor and staff member on the Suffolk University Law Review. Suffolk’s faculty selected Mike as one of three students to receive the Outstanding Student Award at graduation. Prior to law school, Mike studied political science and international relations at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (B.A., cum laude, 2013).
