Overview

Katie Kelly is a public affairs advisor with Foley & Lardner LLP. Prior to joining Foley, Katie was a legislative and governmental affairs chief with Suwannee River Water Management District. While there, she analyzed legislation to determine the impact on the District, which contains all or part of 15 counties and oversaw the process of securing the District’s annual legislative budget request of 6.5 million dollars. She also coordinated the District’s land acquisition and surplus lands program.

Katie also previously worked with the Southwest Florida Water Management District as a government and community affairs director. While in her position, Katie served as a liaison with government officials, community leaders, external organizations to convey and secure acceptance and support of established and proposed district policies and goals.

Early on in Katie’s career, she worked in the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. In her position, Katie was a liaison to legislators, constituents, legislative and executive branch staff, water management districts and various environmental stakeholder entities. She also assisted in the development of the agency’s legislative budget request(s) in conjunction with the Governor’s Office of Policy and Budget Environmental Unit, a budget of 1.3 billion dollars.
