Alice Lee-Dutra is a patent agent with Foley & Lardner LLP. Her practice includes preparing and prosecuting patent applications (both U.S. and foreign) in a wide range of technologies, including pharmaceuticals, polymers, biotechnology, and medical devices. Dr. Lee-Dutra is a member of the Chemical, Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Practice.
Prior to joining Foley, Dr. Lee-Dutra was a patent agent and scientific advisor for Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. Her extensive scientific experience also includes more than 10 years as a medicinal chemist with Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research & Development where she worked on a number of immunology, neuroscience, and metabolic disease targets.
Dr. Lee-Dutra is the co-author of several patents developed while with Johnson & Johnson. She has co-authored 16 scientific journal articles and two book chapters dealing with drug discovery and development.
Dr. Lee-Dutra earned her Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of California – Berkeley (2001), where she was a Bristol-Myers Squibb Fellow and completed her dissertation on the combinatorial methods for the synthesis of mechanism-based cysteine protease inhibitors.
Her undergraduate degree in chemistry was conferred with high honors from Harvey Mudd College (B.S., 1996).
