Peter Loy is an associate for Intellectual Property Department with Foley & Lardner LLP. Peter is based in the Chicago office where he is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group.
He has experience as an associate at a national and international law firm, both based in Chicago, Illinois. As an associate, he drafted complaints and invalidity and infringement contentions for patent infringement actions and petitions for post-grant proceedings. He also drafted and filed US patent applications on electrical and mechanical technologies.
Prior to law school, Peter worked as a transmission engineer for several years and is admitted in the United States Patent and Trademark Office. As a transmission engineer, he performed contingency analysis for steady-state and dynamic cases to identify electric system deficiencies for planning purposes and maintained the transmission planning upgrade database. In this role, Peter also Managed MPPA’s AMP Fremont Energy Center Project and Kalkaska Combustion Turbine, including actively participating in management decisions and updating member cities on plant performance.
