Rosanna Mannan is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP, based in the firm’s Silicon Valley office, where she is a member of the firm’s Transactions Practice.
Before joining Foley, Rosanna was a staff attorney with a top-ranked law firm where she provided business transactional legal services to innovative technology companies and start-ups with the firm’s IP/Tech Transactions group. In this role, she conducted due diligence reviews for M&A deals by reviewing contract clauses and terms in customer agreements, vendor agreements, NDAs and other commercial contracts to spot issues and make assessments.
Previously, she was an associate attorney at a state-wide private law firm practicing civil litigation focusing on insurance defense where she represented insurance companies and their insured from initial case assignment through settlement or trial and oversaw all aspects of the trial process by attending hearings, arguing motions, and managing depositions as well as drafting legal documents such as answers, demurrers, cross-complaints, and motions.
In law school at Santa Clara University, Rosanna was a student legal associate for the Entrepreneur’s Legal Clinic, where she spent time assisting attorneys in counseling business owners and startups on intellectual property and corporate matters. As an attorney, Rosanna continues work with the ELC by providing pro bono legal advising to startups and businesses of the Entrepreneur’s Legal Advising Clinic.
Prior to law school, Rosanna worked as an information developer at IBM, where she wrote and edited complex technical manuals for computer technicians and customers of IBM. Rosanna was promoted to work as an open-source software manager where she reviewed IBM proprietary source code, identified open-source licenses, and ensured compliance. She also served as a subject matter expert on open-source usage processes and software licensing policies. At IBM, Rosanna filed 10+ patents as an inventor, all of which were granted by the USPTO.
Rosanna’s love for inventing and coming up with new software ideas has stayed with her since her IBM days. She currently participates in hackathons in her free time. Rosanna also enjoys gardening in the summer, walking her dog Balto, and cooking. Rosanna’s favorite recipes are spaghetti Bolognese and buttermilk marinated herbed roast chicken.
