Before joining Foley, Melissa was a summer associate at a national law firm in New York, where she worked closely with attorneys in the areas of commercial and business litigation, corporate and securities transactions, insurance regulatory matters, and real estate projects.
Previously, Melissa was a legal intern for a nonprofit organization that provides free civil legal services to low-income New Yorkers, where she collaborated with their legal health department in conducting client interviews and provided legal support to indigent clients at hospital sites across New York City.
Prior to law school, Melissa was a legal assistant for a medical technology manufacturer in Orlando, where she worked closely with in-house attorneys, drafted legal documents, performed legal research, and provided a wide range of legal and administrative support in discovery.
Melissa earned her law degree from the New York University School of Law (J.D., 2018), where she was the articles editor for the Journal of Law & Business, participated in the Corporate Crime and Fraud 1L Reading Group, was JD Admissions Student Ambassador, a teaching assistant for First-Year Legal Research and Writing, participated in the Criminal Appellate Defender Clinic with the Office of the Appellate Defender, and had a prosecution externship with the Southern District of New York.
Melissa received her bachelor’s degree in legal studies from the University of Central Florida (B.S., magna cum laude, 2015), where she was a member of the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, the National Honor Society for Collegiate Scholars, a member of the Student Government Association as a senator for the College of Health and Public Affairs, and a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.
