Chemutai Shiow is a patent engineer in the Intellectual Property Department with Foley & Lardner LLP. Chemutai is based in the firm’s Milwaukee office where she is a member of the Electronics Practice.
Chemutai began with Foley as a summer patent engineer where she focused on prosecuting technological patents.
Prior to Foley, her engineering and leadership experience is demonstrated through her participation in the U.S. Department of Energy Collegiate Wind Competition through WiscWind, where she developed Arduino code for controls, designed and implemented safety controls, tested electrical circuits using a modular testing system and collaborated with team members to write the technical report. She also designed prototypes using SolidWorks for model wind turbine development, built and assembled the models using 3D printed parts and other materials and tested different project variables using an oscilloscope. For the University of Wisconsin, Chemutai assisted engineering professors in developing and editing professional course materials.
Chemutai is proficient in Java, Arduino, Eclipse, SolidWorks and EES, and she has experience with the coding languages C and MATLAB.
