Peter J. Stone is a retired partner with Foley & Lardner LLP where he was a member of the firm’s Distribution & Franchise and Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practices. Peter has litigated a wide variety of business and commercial disputes in federal and state courts for more than 30 years and has extensive litigation experience in the supervision of complex cases. His areas of litigation have included commercial, distribution, trademark and copyright, antitrust, general corporate, contracts, finance, insurance, real estate, and employment matters. Peter also has considerable experience in representing clients in various dispute resolution proceedings, including mediation and arbitration, and he has served as a civil case mediator.

Peter has written and lectured on behalf of the University of Wisconsin Law School (including serving as a Civil Practice Instructor) and has served as special counsel to the former Wisconsin Board of Attorneys Professional Responsibility.

Peter is a member of the American Bar Association (Sections on Litigation and on Patent, Trademark and Copyright Law) and the State Bar of Wisconsin (Sections on Litigation and on Corporation, Banking and Business Law). He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He holds a bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Wisconsin, where he majored in economics, and received his J.D. degree from Stanford University in 1976.
