Associate

Javier Valenzuela Padilla is an associate at the Foley & Lardner México, S.C. office. Javier focuses his practice on international trade and customs. He has represented clients in complex litigation and advisory regarding to trade and customs matters, including, NAFTA and other trade agreements, rules of origin, customs valuation, tariff classification, non-tariff barriers, and other compliance matters.

Javier has experience assisting clients to obtain IMMEX (Maquila) authorizations and other preferential programs that allow them to apply reduced duty rates and other logistic benefits. Tax matters related to trade and customs implications are also part of Javier’s experience.

Before joining Foley, Javier worked at a Mexican firm that focused in tax advisory and consulting, in the Foreign Trade and Customs Department. Previously, he worked at a full-service law firm in Mexico that assisted its clients in conducting business throughout Mexico and abroad.
