Melanie Zaletsky is chief marketing & business development officer for Foley & Lardner LLP, where she is responsible for leading the firm’s business development, marketing, client service, and branding efforts across all practices, industries, and offices.
Melanie has extensive experience leading business and client development strategy and implementation at Am Law 100 law firms, and a strong background in professional services leadership and change management. Prior to joining Foley, she was chief client development & practice management officer for a large international law firm in Washington D.C., leading a team novel in its structure of joining the business management with the marketing/BD function during years of record lateral growth and revenue. Before that, she served as global head of strategic innovation at another international law firm, where she spearheaded a signature business transformation effort, and earlier, served as U.S. head of business development.
Melanie has also held executive and client development roles at DLA Piper, Raytheon, and Bowne & Co., Inc.
Prior to entering the corporate world, Melanie served as a U.S. Naval Officer for nearly seven years, twice deploying to the Persian Gulf aboard amphibious assault ships, and as a naval science instructor in San Diego, CA.
Melanie is a frequent speaker at industry conferences on topics related to client service, business development and law firm operations, including at symposiums such as Thomson Reuters’ Marketing Partner Forum, Law Firm COO & CFO Forum, and Legal Sales and Service Organization’s RainDance Conference.
Melanie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences from Stanford University.
